Unzip Program
Extract Now
Great little zip file extrator program & it's free.
With this program you can unzip dozens of zip files at the same time.
Just drag the files into the window & select where you want to extract them too.
I usually make a new file in my "downloads" file with the date on it. That way, if a downloaded package doesn't work or crashes my game - I can delete it easily.

sims2pack
This is a good program - for installing new lots.
It lists hacks in red & shows any custom content that will be installed with the lot.
You can uncheck the items (especially unknown hacks) that you don't want to install with the lot.
